Completing your apprenticeship

Gateway to completion

Once you’ve completed your on programme training you will go through gateway to completion. This is where we agree with you and your line manager that you have acquired the knowledge, skills and behaviours set out in the apprenticeship standard and are ready to undertake your final assessment.

Apprenticeship assessment

Apprenticeship assessment is the process for you to demonstrate to a third-party assessor that you have acquired the knowledge, skills and behaviours (KSB’s) set out in the apprenticeship standard.

The assessment will be carried out by an impartial Assessment Organisation, which takes responsibility for the assessment of the apprentice against the requirements of their standard.

Your assessment

During your assessment you will complete the following:

You will prepare and develop a case for support in the form of a case pitch. It will be based on a real pitch carried out in the employer’s workplace or an appropriate facility as part of the apprentice’s typical activities.

You will also create a presentation based on the case for support pitch which will be presented to an independent assessor, with follow up questioning immediately after the presentation.

This assessment will take the form of a 75 minute structured professional discussion with an independent assessor. You will use your portfolio to support your responses.

Part of your assessment is to complete a portfolio of evidence.

Set targets for yourself for recording evidence to help keep on top of this.

Be Proactive

Try to consider what sort of support pitch you would like to get involved with as early as possible to give yourself time to complete it. Your coach will support you through this and will be able to answer questions.
