16-18s Study Programme
Duration: 11 Months
Our training equips young people who are not quite ready for work, an apprenticeship or academic study with the skills they need to move forward in work and life.
Learners will be able to gain valuable qualifications and are supported to access work experience opportunities. We coach learners to be their best selves when being interviewed and help them secure employment with respected companies in the sector of their choice.
Training is funded by the Department of Education and qualifications are at Level 2 (equivalent to GSCEs) or Level 3 (equivalent to A-Levels).
We offer two pathways:

Employability
This supports young people going into jobs and apprenticeships.
The main focus is a NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Employability Skills, which includes units on job searching, interview skills, using social media in the workplace and much more. Year 2 progression is available on to the NCFE Level 3 Diploma in Sport and Physical Activity (Sports Coaching).
Sports Coaching
This provides an entry to the sport and fitness sector.
We offer both the NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Sport (Sports Coaching) with year 2 progression available on to the NCFE Level 3 Diploma in Sport and Physical Activity (Sports Coaching).
Maths and English
The course includes Maths and English functional skills from Entry Level 3 to Level 2. We offer learning in small groups and 1-2-1 specialist support and a system which enables learners and their parents to track their progress in real-time.
Delivery
The course is delivered September-July. In-year starts may be available. Workshops are held in-person at venues in Dartford and Gravesend. In September 2025, we will open opportunities for Maidstone’s young people.
We hope to expand provision more widely in 2025 and 2026. Please get in touch if you’re interested in finding out more.
Eligibility
This course is free for young people aged 16-18 (or 16-24 with an Education Health & Care Plan) who are not currently employed or in full-time education.
