Accessible apprenticeships
Removing barriers, building confidence
At JGA, accessible apprenticeships mean getting the right help in place from the start. We work with you and your apprentices to understand individual needs, agree practical adjustments and review progress throughout the programme.
We build every apprenticeship around real roles and workplace priorities, so you can develop talent while giving your apprentices the tools they need to learn, grow in confidence and show what they can do.

Ofsted ‘Outstanding’ Support
Ofsted inspected JGA in July 2025 and rated all provision, including Apprenticeships, Outstanding. Our inclusive learning environment and support for all learners was praised as exceptional. This reflects our commitment to identifying support needs early, removing barriers and helping apprentices achieve with confidence.
“Learners and apprentices who need extra help with their learning receive outstanding support. Young learners from disadvantaged backgrounds, including those who have experienced bereavement or have been refused education with other establishments, have access to counselling support to help them make positive and informed decisions. Young learners with complex needs benefit from effective specialist support such as speech and language therapists. Learners and apprentices with SEND achieve well and in line with their peers.”
Our approach
JGA is committed to helping apprentices access learning, build confidence and achieve their qualification with the right support in place.
Our approach is based on early identification, personalised support planning, regular review and strong partnership with employers. We also partner with Support Connect to provide specialist assessment, mentoring and practical support for apprentices with more complex learning, wellbeing or accessibility needs. Wherever possible, apprentices learn alongside their peers, with individual support built around their needs.

FAQs
Does an apprentice need a formal diagnosis before we ask for help?
No. Let us know as early as possible if something may affect your apprentice’s learning, confidence, wellbeing or assessment. We’ll talk you through what’s available.
Is there a screening process before an apprentice joins the programme?
Yes. Before your apprentice starts, we carry out an initial assessment to identify any hidden needs — such as dyslexia, dyscalculia or other learning differences — so we can put the right support in place from day one, rather than waiting for a problem to surface.
Will adjustments change the apprenticeship standard?
No. The standard stays the same. Adjustments simply remove barriers so your apprentice can access learning and demonstrate their skills fairly.
Can the support plan change?
Yes. We review it throughout the apprenticeship and update it as your apprentice’s needs change.
Can JGA help with assessment adjustments?
Yes. We help apprentices prepare for final assessment and support reasonable adjustment requests where appropriate.
