Virtual Production Technician Bootcamp: Inside the LED Volume
The JGA Group is proud to be delivering what is possibly the world’s first Virtual Production Technician Bootcamp, an intensive, hands-on training experience designed to prepare the next generation of virtual production talent for the film and TV industry.
During a recent session, learners stepped inside the main LED volume at Garden Studios – an unforgettable moment in the course. As generous hosts, Garden Studios provided access to their space, equipment for our mini-volume and the expertise of their fantastic team, giving learners a true insight into how professional virtual production environments operate.
On the day, the cohort was fully immersed in real-world workflows, working with camera tracking systems, troubleshooting technical challenges and learning how a full-scale LED volume functions during production. This wasn’t theory, it was hands-on, live problem-solving in a real studio environment.

Building Real Industry Skills
Across two intensive weeks, learners dive deep into the technical foundations of virtual production. From constructing a wild wall and integrating systems, to mastering camera tracking and understanding how virtual environments come together, the course mirrors real industry practice.
A huge thank you goes to Stype, who supported the programme by providing their brand-new RedSpy 5 tracking system, completely free of charge and even sending one of their engineers to work directly with the cohort. Their support gave learners the opportunity to train using the same technology used on professional productions.
This course is the result of an incredible knowledge share – what many call the “Dan Hall brain dump.” Alongside this, the programme was designed and developed by Jon Holloway, whose vision and industry expertise helped shape the structure and technical depth of the bootcamp. Dan and Jon’s dedication, time and expertise have created a programme that is already gaining attention across the industry.
