Testimony: Hana’s Bootcamp Story
This is an extract from Hana’s story after she completed our Get into Film and TV Skills Bootcamp.

“I feel like I now have a group of cheerleaders helping me achieve my dreams!”
Keep going Hana, JGA wishes you all the best! 🎉
About Hana
“My name is Hana Grant, I’m 27 years old and live in the borough of Hounslow. I did media in college and my interest started from there when I was 18. After that, I ended up doing admin and marketing jobs to help support my family, so I didn’t get much experience in production.
Growing up in an immigrant family, I was pushed to just get a job instead of doing something I was passionate about. In the long run, I wasn’t happy with that, so finding this opportunity felt like a chance to restart and finally go into something I’ve always wanted to do. I also went to a non-selective school, so I didn’t really have the chance to meet people in the TV and film industry or get any real connections. The options felt limited. This training has given me the chance to work towards a career I care about.“

Overcoming Barriers
“This bootcamp helped me get creative and pushed me out of my comfort zone. It really helped build my confidence and showed me which parts of production I enjoy most, like research and crew work. I’ve been actively applying for jobs and looking at roles sent to me by my talent manager, Nish Singh.
Through JGA, I got an opportunity from Alf to work with Connect Me2 on summer crew jobs like concerts and I recently helped on a freelance job at the V&A, which was a great experience.
I’m really grateful to the JGA team. This bootcamp has been a great stepping stone to getting on the right path and having a clearer mindset about my goals.”

Outcome and Result
“Connecting with like-minded people from my group – especially those who live locally – has made a big difference. It means I can keep working on passion projects even after the bootcamp.
This experience has opened so many doors for me and given me the hands-on experience I was missing. It was the best refresher course I could’ve asked for.
I now feel like I’m part of a real community and, for the first time, like I truly belong.“
