Transforming Fundraising
Most of the third sector has a need for fundraising excellence. This can be achieved through new opportunities for increasing diversity and inclusion, brilliant training for existing staff or filling skill gaps by bringing in new staff from other sectors or fresh from school, college or higher education.
These are exciting times with the Chartered Institute of Fundraising’s Change Collective Strategy and the focused drive of #CharitySoWhite each trying to make fundraising and the broader charity sector better and more effective by building a new culture of diversity and inclusion.
Covid perhaps represents a unique opportunity to reset organisational resource ad capacity and design for an effective and ethical future through investment in teams’ ways of thinking, engaging and applying renewed knowledge, skills and behaviours to transform their and your organisation’s performance.
Apprenticeships – Reborn as Professional Quality Training
Now all staff and organisations can have cost-effective access to learning the fundamental principles of good fundraising. Relaunched in 2017 and with a new (2020) fundraiser specialism supported by the Chartered Institute of Fundraising, apprenticeships have become:
- Specialist
- Professional quality
- For all ages
- Diverse and inclusive
- For existing staff, or new recruits
- Bespoke to your organisation
- Financially incentivised
For large organisations, apprenticeship training is free – funded by a payroll tax. For small organisations, the government meets 95% of the training cost but for both large and small there are additional grants, employer National Insurance Contribution reductions and other similar financial benefits are available as part of the package. These more than meet the cost of the 5% employer contribution to costs.
Use apprenticeships to transform the knowledge, skills and behaviours of existing staff, just as much as for newly recruited team members. Refresh their knowledge and skills, think in new ways and set up for the 2020s.
