West London Film Competition 2025 Results

West London Film Competition (2025 Edition) is a wrap! 🎥
This year’s competition brought together an incredible mix of talent from student filmmakers across West London. In total, nearly 100 students participated (over 130 initially expressed interest!) representing a wide range of institutions, including a range of local colleges, universities and media specialist school, Global Academy.
The challenge: each team had just five days to plan, shoot, and edit a films with the broad topic of ‘Showcasing Creativity’ and ‘Behind The Scenes.’ The results spoke for themselves: polished, inventive, and full of fresh ideas. Industry professionals Alix Guichard, Billy Abbott, Martin Blackburn and Washington Peterkin, provided invaluable guidance throughout the process, giving competitors a real taste of proper filmmaking.
The creativity on display was nothing short of inspiring, films spanned the comedy, action, thriller, documentary and music video genres. It’s proof of how powerful local education, mentorship and real-world opportunities can be in shaping the next generation of filmmakers. Judging by what we’ve seen, the future of film and TV is in very good hands.
Now, onto the results! 🏆
A huge congratulations to the winners: Barnet & Southgate College and communities, for the psychological thriller ‘Perfect Take’!
The judges were really impressed with the film, calling it a “masterclass in tension,” with a “clever story” and “memorable shots.” The judges compared the film to classics such as ‘Jaws’ and ‘Silence of the Lambs’. The prize for the winning team is a tour of West London’s RD Studios, one of London’s largest film production facilities.👏

2nd place: West Thames College – ‘Room 7’

A huge shout out to all contributors for making the competition such a success. Special recognition to Manoj Gohil for capturing the talking heads video (see below), Chris Skarratt, Richard Goodwin and Bill Boler, without whom the competition wouldn’t have run so smoothly.
We’d also like to thank our judges: Dr. Gurdeep Singh Kohli, Stephen Surridge, Tom Perrigo and Angela Cupidon.
The comp wouldn’t have been possible without our sponsors and partners: 11:11 Management, RD Content, West London’s Creative Enterprise Zones, The Mayor’s West London Film & TV Skills Academy Hub, The Mayor of London and SCRUM Theatre.
