Spectator Safety Level 2
Duration: 8 weeks
This Highfield NVQ Level 2 Certificate is specifically for people wanting to work in the events sector as a Safety Steward.
It is now a requirement of all stadiums to have this qualification. The qualification meets the requirements laid out in the Football Licensing Authority’s Guide to Safety at Sports Grounds (known as the Green Guide).
The qualification is made up of 6 mandatory units and involves a combination of performance and knowledge to develop skills required to work at events.
Delegates will be provided with scenario training to develop their skills prior to working at events with the spectators.
Course Units
- Preparing for spectator events
- Controlling the entry, exit and movement of people at spectator events
- Monitoring spectators and dealing with crowd problems
- Supporting the work of the team and organisation
- Helping to manage conflict
- Dealing with accidents and emergencies
Delivery Model
At the beginning of the course delegates attend 2 days in the classroom for ‘getting to know you,’ briefing, induction, the distribution and review of workbooks.
Weekly 1-3 hour interactive support sessions take on Teams – timing is flexible to work with delegates’ shift patterns.
Through the course there will be a minimum of two workplace observations and one day of face to face scenario based training.
Total duration of the course is typically 2 months.
