Certificate in Employability Practice Level 3
The new professional standard for employability professionals, the Institute of Employability Professionals Level 3 Certificate in Employability Practice.
Duration: 8 months
The qualification is at the centre of the Institute of Employability Practitioners (IEP) initiative to drive forward professionalisation and is accredited by NCFE. It provides frameworks, tools and specialist knowledge to support your development and equip you with the competences needed to provide high quality professional employability services.
JGA’s CEP was developed and is being led by industry leader Anne Tanner, who has worked in both employability and skills, supporting the Community Learning Bridge for many years.
The course is especially aiming to support teams working with employability initiatives such as Restart, JET and other programmes focused on helping the unemployed back to work.
Course Contents
The qualification comprises four units:
Unit 1 – Contracting, Action Planning and Caseload Management
Stimulate and empower your clients to identify goals and aspirations and understand expectations and boundaries, use frameworks to help you to facilitate your sessions and set SMART targets. Find a strategy to stay focused and prioritise when managing your caseload, identify obstacles and barriers and overcome them.
Unit 2 – Interpersonal coaching and facilitation skills
Understand intercommunication skills, the building of trust and respect with your clients through active listening and supported guidance, learning and the importance of decision-making skills.
Unit 3 – Supporting informed decision making
Understand the importance of culture, values, beliefs and ethical perspectives as well as the factors that influence this, to enable clients to be confident and motivated.
Unit 4 – Finding and competing for work
Prepare for the fast-changing world of work, understand Labour Market Intelligence and the importance of ensuring that society and the client work together.

Customised Qualification
The Certificate in Employability Practice is a bespoke, unregulated qualification. It has been developed by the IEP and is accredited by awarding organisation NCFE.
The course’s learning outcomes and assessment criteria have been benchmarked at Level 3 to allow learners to demonstrate the difficulty and depth of study. On completion of the Certificate in Employability Practice, learners will receive a certificate of achievement. The certificate is evidence of the knowledge and skills gained by completing the course. This is an unregulated course and is not a nationally recognised qualification.
How the qualification will be delivered
Learning is a blend of live teaching (via Zoom/Teams) and bite-sized e-learning modules and tasks, with ongoing expert support. There will be opportunities to observe, practice and reflect and assignments at the end of each unit.
The flexible approach has a clear focus on the realities of your role and workplace.
The time commitment will be a 2 hour classroom session every fortnight plus 3 hours of other learning activities each week. The course typically takes 6-8 months to complete.
