Diploma for Early Years Educator Level 3

Our NCFE CACHE Level 3 Diploma for the Early Years Workforce (Early Years Educator) develops the knowledge and skills you need to be a child care worker in early years settings. It helps you deal with supporting individuals with their physical and emotional care, daily living needs and health and social care procedures.

Our Early Years Educator training programme has been carefully constructed by our experts with nearly 30 years of experience in the sector and is designed to prepare you or your early years’ workforce to deliver the best quality of care.

You will need to be employed or volunteering in a setting caring for children under 5 years of age and have the opportunity to be involved in planning activities, observing children and planning next steps.

At the end of this course you will be able to have a career working as an Early Years Educator in a pre-school, nursery or reception class; Childminder; Health Visitors Assistant; or Social Care Support Worker.

Programme Summary

The programme empowers business owners and learners with the knowledge and skills to work with children under five.

It uses a combination of observations of practice to demonstrate competence and written work to show understanding.

Theme 1 – Health and Well-Being

Topics cover how best to support healthy lifestyles for children through food, nutrition and exercise. Also, how to supporting children’s physical care routines and promoting emotional well-being.

This theme concludes with understanding how to support children who are unwell.

Theme 2 – Legislation, frameworks and professional practice

Theme 2 is designed to prepare the learner for the ‘frameworks and professional practice’ involved in working within the early years workforce. The theme highlights key legislation relating to the safeguarding, protection and welfare of children.

Learners are also taught how to follow and use legislation relating to the health and safety, equality, diversity and inclusive practice of children. Additional modules cover professional practices, working in partnership and professional career development.

Theme 3 – Play, development and learning for school readiness

The final theme introduces the value of play and promoting enabling play environments in early years, coupled with the promotion of children’s personal, social and emotional development.

Learners gain insight on promoting the use of speech, language and good communication, as well as developing children’s cognitive skills and addressing emergent literacy skills and mathematical skills. The content also covers how to use observation, assessment and planning to promote the development of children.

Delivery

The course is delivered through a monthly face to face or interactive teaching session via Zoom or Microsoft Teams, plus coaching and support as needed from occupationally competent assessors/tutors.
