Communications Apprenticeships for Emergency and Public Services

The JGA Group has a strong track record in helping public sector bodies, local government, NHS, police forces, ambulance services and fire services to develop communications and marketing staff.

Our range of apprenticeships build the knowledge, skills and behaviours to plan and deliver campaigns, engage with stakeholders and citizens and evaluate impact through an ever-increasing range of channels.

We are the official provider of PR and Communications apprenticeships to the Government Communications Service. Currently more than 45 organisations across central government, local government, blue light and the private sector trust us to train their apprentices, making us the largest provider of PR and Communications apprenticeships nationally.

Delivery Model

JGA’s approach is for a monthly full-day or twice monthly half-day seminar delivered live online to small groups, supplemented by expert coaching and pastoral support. Our team are skilled professionals in their fields who often continue to work within their specialism.

We work closely to support line managers with planning and organising in-work aspects of apprenticeships to ensure that impact is high.

What Does it Cost?

For large organisations (with a pay bill of over £3 million) – apprenticeship training can be fully funded by the Apprenticeship Levy.

For smaller organisations:

• The Government funds 95% of the training cost. (This amounts to £7,600 for the Fundraiser apprenticeship, for example).
• 100% of the costs can be Government funded if your organisation has fewer than 50 employees and you are hiring a young apprentice. (This amounts to £8,000 Government funding for the Fundraiser apprenticeship, for example).

Plus a valuable exemption from Employers’ Class 1 National Insurance Contributions for apprentices aged under 25.

Why JGA?

JGA is a well-established provider with nearly 30 years providing specialist vocational training. Our provision was inspected by Ofsted in October 2019 (a strong ‘Good’), and we have a full suite of information security, ISO and other accreditations.
