What is it?
Employability Skills Programme (ESP) is a course designed to help Jobcentre Plus customers improve their literacy, ESOL and numeracy skills.
The course provides help and support with jobsearch and job-readiness skills. It will also help you develop your abilities in literacy and numeracy, or in speaking and understanding English if it is not your first language. This will considerably improve your job prospects.

ESP is for customers living in West and South London and will focus on residents of the Boroughs of Brent, Harrow, Hillingdon and Greenwich who are signing on at the Jobcentre. The programme is available to those aged 18 or over. All customers are referred by their Jobcentre Plus Adviser.
What is on offer?
The course delivers training, practical advice and support. Subjects covered include:
- Confidence building and motivation
- Developing or improving your CV
- Completing job application forms
- Developing interview skills
- Presenting and selling yourself
- Finding jobs and networking
- Health and Safety in the workplace
- Developing a better understanding of your own skills and abilities and how to use them in your career
- Improving your reading, writing and speaking of English
- Helping with your maths
You will work towards exams in Numeracy, Literacy or ESOL, and a certificate in Employability.
How does it work?
You will be referred by Jobcentre Plus to meet with one of our tutors for an initial interview. This interview will help us to better assess your existing capabilities and for us to decide whether this, or a different form of training, will meet your particular needs.
After this meeting you will be referred to our nearest training venue. We currently operate this programme in Eastcote, Harlesden, Hayes and Woolwich.
Customers attend ESP for 20 hours per week for a maximum of 15 weeks.

Nothing, ESP is funded by the Skills Funding Agency.
Full time customers will have their travel and childcare expenses refunded and receive a weekly Training Allowance. Light refreshments are provided free of charge.
