What is it?
Career Advantage is a series of workshops which will enable you to update your skills and identify future career paths.
What is on offer?
You will get quality training and support which will help you to develop and refresh your skills so that you can find new employment.
Modules include:
- CVs: selling yourself on paper
- Exploring alternatives
- IT
- Marketing yourself
- Practical networking: the hidden job market
- Presenting yourself
- Putting your case
- Self employment and portfolio careers
- Skills analysis
- Time management
- Winning at interviews
- What do employers want?
Who is it for?
Managers, professionals and technical or administrative specialists.
This course is not appropriate for school or university leavers.
Either:
- You must have been made redundant or become unemployed within the last 6 months on the day you sign up for the course.
or:
- Your job must be at risk of redundancy
- If you're self employed, it must be less than 6 months since your last contract or job

N.B.: Career Advantage is only offered to people who either live within, or whose last job was located in, one of these boroughs:
- Brent
- Ealing
- Hammersmith & Fulham
- Harrow
- Hillingdon

How does it work?
The course consists of a series of training modules. Some are compulsory while, for others, you and your JGA adviser will choose which modules suit your needs.
How much does it cost?
Nothing except your time and commitment to the course. Career Advantage is fully funded by the European Social Fund and the Learning & Skills Council, who will want proof that you have attended sessions regularly.
